Coach Flath was raised in Orlando , Florida where he graduated from Lake Highland Prep in 1988. At Lake Highland he lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track and earned a football scholarship to Florida State University . Coach Flath was a three year letterman as an offensive lineman at FSU. Coach Flath graduated from FSU with a degree in Communications and a minor in psychology. He returned to Orlando to Lake Highland prep for seven years finishing his time as the Offensive coordinator in 1999.
Coach Flath served as the Offensive Line coach at Edgewater High in 2000, and Offensive coordinator at Seminole high school in 2001. Coach Flath became the Head Coach at University High in 2002 and led the Cougars for four seasons.
Most recently Coach Flath served as the Offensive line coach at Apopka High for the spring of 2006 before accepting the offensive line job on the Dreadnaught staff. Coach Flath is in his entering his third year as the Offensive Line coach where his teaching duties are in the PE department.
He is married to Megan and is the proud father of two sons, Caleb and Jake
