Coach Butler was born in Lakeland, Florida and raised in Bartow, Florida. He graduated from Bartow High School in 1997, where he would letter in Baseball and Football. Coach Butler would then go on to attend school at the University of South Florida and play baseball for one season and football for the remainder of his collegiate career. While playing for the USF Bulls Football team, Butler would receive the MVP award in 1998 and the LeRoy Selmon Award in 2000.
Once Coach Butler's playing career was over, he became a Graduate Assistant at USF where he would assist with the secondary and linebackers in 2001-2002. Butler then moved on to becoming the assistant head coach at Lake Wales and Defensive Coordinator for the 2003-2004 season.
Coach Butler will be entering his third year with the Dreadnaughts as the Outside Linebackers coach and first year as Defensive Coordinator where his teaching duties are in the PE department.
Coach Butler is married to Amber. Together they have a son, Durrah.
